Overview

What we do for you

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax started in April 2026 for sole traders and landlords with income over £50,000. In April 2027 the threshold drops to £30,000. Once you are in, you keep digital records and send HMRC an update every quarter, then your tax return after the year ends.

We sign you up, set up software that suits you (usually Xero), and make sure you’re more than prepared for each quarterly submission. We send every quarterly update and your year-end return, so the new rules cost you as little time as possible.

Making Tax Digital: questions

How do I know if I need to join?

HMRC adds up your income from self-employment and property, before expenses. If that total is over the threshold, you are in. Income from a job or a pension does not count towards it.

Do I still need a tax return?

Yes. The quarterly updates do not replace it. After the tax year ends you still send a return, through the same software. We handle both.
